Welcome Our New Associate Director Mike Brin!

The American Diabetes Association of North Texas would like to welcome Mike Brin as the new Associate Director in charge of Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes. Brin was born and raised in Southern California (just North of Los Angeles).  He has an undergraduate degree from San Diego State University in Business and a Master’s Degree in Sport Management from the University of San Francisco.  Brin recently moved from Knoxville, Tenn., where he has lived the past three years with his wife.   While in Knoxville, Brin worked for JDRF managing two fundraising walks.  Prior to JDRF, Brin worked for Medtronic Diabetes in Los Angeles.  Brin said he is very excited to be a part of the ADA North Texas team and head up the Step Out campaign.

Brin replaces Melissa Caraway, who managed Step Out for the past five years. Staff, volunteers, sponsors and friends will miss her enthusiasm and smile as well as her dedication. The ADA wishes her good luck as she continues to fight to stop diabetes.

  1. Hey Mike!

I hope you will continue offering a chip-timed run event (as we had in teh 2011 Walk). Quite a few of us type 1’s showed up for that last year and it was a blast! Also, just curious if you guys do any coordination of events and schedules with InsulINdependence.org, a non-profit focused on athletic activity and staying active as part of diabetes management. They have some coordinators in the Dallas area you might want to reach out to.

Good luck with the 2012 event! See you there!
