New National ADA VP, High Risk Programs 7 Health Disparities

 NEW NATIONAL ADA VICE PRESIDENT, HIGH RISK PROGRAMS 7 HEALTH DISPARITIES

Maria Mupanomunda, MD, PhD, MBA, is the new Vice President for High Risk Programs & Health Disparities (HRHD), Scientific & Medical Division, who joined the American Diabetes Association effective August 30.  Dr. Mupanomunda will be responsible for developing the Association’s national strategy for community-based diabetes awareness, education materials and programs, focusing specifically on communities of high risk with health disparities.  Dr. Mupanomunda brings strong clinical, management and high risk programs experience to her new role. She holds an MD from the University of Zimbabwe School of Medicine, a PhD in Physiology from Michigan State University, and an MBA from the University of Zimbabwe Graduate School of Management. In addition, she performed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Hypertension and Vascular Research at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.
