When it comes to diabetes, health care providers therefore tend to focus on interpreting A1C results and ensuring their patients maintain their target blood glucose levels. However, what’s often missed within this “sea of numbers” is a patient’s quality of life. Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) has gained increasing recognition as a critical element of diabetes research, treatment and care.
Today’s Symposium, “Beyond A1C-Why Quality of Life Matters,” featured experts whose research findings underline the importance of assessing diabetes patients’ quality of life (QOL) as a means to improve outcomes.
