American Diabetes Association is proud to partner with Texas Health Resources in North Texas.  Texas Health Resources’ Community Employee Giving campaign gives employees the opportunity to financially support local non-profit organizations and food drive beneficiaries that depend on their contributions to provide vital community-based programs and services.
This year, THR employees raised over $40,000 for American Diabetes Association, North Texas. By supporting the Community Employee Giving campaign, THR employees help provide life-saving resources and support to individuals throughout the year.

From one of our own at the American Diabetes Association, Pamela Kendzierski shares the story of her daughter, Grace for National Diabetes Awareness month. Grace was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was barely a year old, but has since grown into an avid athlete. School Walk for Diabetes

screen-shot-2016-11-10-at-11-04-36-am

School Walk for Diabetes is an educational school fundraising program that promotes healthy living, school spirit and community involvement.

School Walk for Diabetes educates students, families, staff and teachers about Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Funds raised through School Walk helps to support the research, education and advocacy programs of the American Diabetes Association, and to support our mission to prevent and cure diabetes and improve the lives of all people living with diabetes. The need for diabetes education is more important than ever as there are 29.1 million Americans with diabetes and 86 million have prediabetes.

Not only do students, staff and the community learn about diabetes prevention and management but your school also has the opportunity to earn Gopher gift cards for PE equipment!

You can register your school today by going to: www.diabetes.org/schoolwalk

Help Us Celebrate National Healthy Lunch Day!

screen-shot-2016-11-10-at-10-58-03-am

This November 15, join us in our celebration of National Healthy Lunch Day as part of American Diabetes Month®. Commit to eating a healthy meal on this day—and every day—and encourage others in your life to do the same.

In addition, we know how important it is for people with diabetes to eat a healthy meal to maintain their blood glucose levels. As part of American Diabetes Month, we are sharing stories of real people with diabetes through our campaign theme, This Is Diabetes™. For National Healthy Lunch Day, we are encouraging those of you in the diabetes community to take a photo of what a healthy lunch means to you.

Participating is easy. We encourage you all to snap a photo of your healthy lunch and share on social media using the official hashtags #HealthyLunchDay and #ThisIsDiabetes. We’ve also provided free resources—including recipes, tip sheets and infographics to share with family and friends.

Join us for a healthy lunch on November 15!
