NASCAR driver Ryan Reed, 21, will visit Eagle Mountain Elementary on Friday, Oct. 31, 2014,  to meet with students and discuss his journey racing with type 1 diabetes. His appearance and the assembly will serve as the kick-off for Eagle Mountain Elementary and their fundraising campaign to benefit the American Diabetes Association.

In February 2011, Reed received life-changing news that he had type 1 diabetes. Doctors told him he would never race again. Reed refused to give up his dream of racing and has since become an inspiration for millions of people living with the disease.

Now, Reed tours the nation in an effort to continue to increase diabetes awareness and education. Lilly Diabetes is supporting NASCAR driver Ryan Reed and the American Diabetes Association calling the campaign Drive to Stop Diabetes℠.

We invite you to meet Ryan at Eagle Mountain Elementary to see how his story inspires those around him. You can also learn more about the North Texas School Walk to Stop Diabetes program and how it helps the Association’s mission to stop diabetes by visiting www.diabetes.org/schoolwalk-northtexas.
