Volunteer Camp Nurse Opportunities

  • We are looking for RNs, LPNs, and nursing students with all types of nursing backgrounds
  • Our day camp run June 11-15, 2012, daily from 8:30a – 3:30p
  • Work with a team of 1-2 other nurses at your camp
  • Camper populations from 100 to 115 campers, ages 4 to 17
  • Our camp has over 50 volunteer staff members

Camp Nurse Responsibilities

  • Ensure health and safety of campers and staff
  • Routine hourly finger pricks
  • Communicating specific camper health needs (allergies, special diets) to counselor
  • Medical record keeping
  • Communicate with parents
  • Participate in camp activities and events
  • Treatment of non-insulin highs and lows
  • First aid for minor injuries
  • Participate in camp activities and events

Qualifications and Requirements

  • RN or LPN degree (or nursing student-to assist in Health Center)
  • Must be available for at least 1-day availability highly preferred
  • Flexible– able to adapt to different environments and schedules
  • Confidence in nursing skills
  • Responsible, friendly, personable and team player
  • Strong assessment abilities
  • Prior experience with children
  • Enjoy an active lifestyle

Work Schedule
8-hour shift (8:00a – 4:00p) one or more days during the week.
